Christmas Tree Shop Without Walls
Have you ever seen a whole street become a Christmas tree shop? It happens every year in my home town. Live trees are brought out onto the pavement of the main street and arranged around and you can pick up any you like and take it home, whether by car or a handcart. You can also buy branches only, or trees that have been cut down, but those are much rarer nowadays, and with good reason. Other merchants put up stalls that sell Christmas decorations or plastic trees, in all sizes, and the whole arrangement is about a mile long and it’s there for weeks, regardless of the weather. The trees are often decorated on the site, to show off the products, but just as often they are not. Real and artificial trees are never displayed together, with the most prominent spots being left for the most beautiful potted specimens. Turning a whole street into a Christmas Tree Shop is quite convenient, as most of the townspeople pass through and the holidays seem to last for a month, rather than just a few days.
